The House on Penn CoveWhidbey Island, Washington State
We're about 2 hours from Seattle. You can get here by ferry on the south end, or over the Deception Pass Bridge on the north.
Some mornings you get a sunrise view of Coupeville Wharf reflected in the still waters of the cove. The snow-capped Olympic Mountains are on your right. Other mornings you have the resident harbor seals popping their heads out of the water, checking you out. On a great day, you get both.I grew up on the island and live next door. I can answer questions and help if you need it, but the space is yours while you are here.

The Penn Cove Beach Studio is ideally sized and priced for solo or couples retreats and business travel — with a spacious dining table that doubles as a desk. There's a large, well-maintained hot tub next to the beach and a grand piano upstairs for musical guests.
The House on Penn Cove Upper Floor sleeps 6-8. It's great for families, friend groups, and crafters' retreats. The large picture windows on the south side of the house overlooking the cove provide light that crafters appreciate. You are so close to the water it feels like you are on a boat.A 1953 pink kitchen and original art by my mom, Beatrice Powell, will give you something to tell your friends about.
Book the Entire House on Penn Cove and get both floors. Your group can be together and still have space apart. It sleeps 10-12. The lower floor has a modern kitchen, king bed, and a curbless walk-in shower. It's accessible from the parking area with a flat concrete path.Walk out from the kitchen to the covered patio where you can sip your coffee and watch seals go by, even when it's raining.

Hi, I'm Sarah. My husband Stig, and I spent 20+ years overseas. We often spent summers with my parents at the house on Penn Cove, so our son could have roots on Whidbey. Returning here as an adult has made me aware of what a beautiful, art-filled place I grew up in, in a way I couldn’t see as a child.I host because the people who stay—curious people, artists, musicians—are the same type who would become friends if they lived closer. We have jam sessions in the garage on Wednesday nights. Want to join us?
